Fans of Three Rivers/Donate Life America Donor Registration Campaign
Permalink

After speaking with our contacts at Donate Life America and CBS we have been told that we can have meetings and undertake initiatives necessary to begin a grassroots, fan-based campaign to promote organ donation registration and recipient assistance in conjunction with Donate Life America and the National Transplant Assistance Fund, and honoring Three Rivers.

Now that we have contacted all parties involved and we have been given permission to begin our campaign, we will begin announcing further plans this coming week.

This will be a global initiative to assist with organ donor registration and aid to recipients who are in need of housing, medication, child care, etc.

Our first venture will be to launch a world-wide internet campaign in support of organ donation registration. We will be providing further information on how to register, and get credit for your registration, within the next week.

Just wanted to bring everybody up to speed on what is happening...
Christi, Nancy, Rusty and Cindy

smile Congratulations for a huge task accomplished !   Pat yourselves on the back,  although it's just the beginning it is such a worthy cause and I will be more than happy to help in any way I can.

As someone who's been a part of organ donation  as Nancy knows my story, the ripple affect it creates,  gives the loved one (the donor's ) life even more meaning after they're gone. Many times over in those that rec'd the gifts  heart.gif

I applaud all who participate and donate!  YOU ROCK!!!

Awesome how truly great things can happen when good people come together for a common goal!  clapscream

Much love and hugs!   hugslove

This is really a great way to help people in need!clap Patients who get transplants are laid up for years sometimes.no They and there families have to travel to hospitals, sometimes on different continents, it's an enormous expense. Helping just with expenses like that could lift a huge burden for these families, so I'm all for it.

Way to go Nancy, Rusty and Christiscream

AWESOME, JUST AWESOME!!!!! I WILL HELP IN WHATEVER WAY I CAN.

Let me be forthright here. I don't know if anyone will want my 72-year-old organs, but doggone, I am happy to make them available to anyone in need when I pass on.

As a community pharmacist, I continually seek ways in which to involve both our employees and the local area in public awareness concerning health issues.

I recently initiated a campaign in my hometown of Jerseyville, Illinois (pop about 7,000) in conjunction with the state of Illinois donor registry, partnering my workplace, its employees, and customers with the Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network. When I contacted the official with the Secretary of State who coordinates the Network, I had asked if there was a particular time in which to distribute information and ask people to sign up. This is the response:

"We don't have a Donate Life day. There is a National Donate Life Month
in April. You could definitely coordinate with the upcoming tv show [Three Rivers].
It's creating quite the buzz around organ/tissue donation." (I'm glad the BUZZ IS GOOD!)

I have been registered for over 15 years on the National Donor Registry, have had friends and relatives who have been recipients, and have a sister-in-law who is soon to be on the list for a kidney. Talk about the "gift that keeps on giving."

As much as I love Alex, I am hoping that this show will be successful more for showcasing the importance of organ transplants. OK OK, I am SO wanting to see Alex every week on TV as well...

Lynn that is awesome!  YESSSSS  smile I too want to see Big Daddy in the verrrrry worst way,  but more than that I want to be part of something big,  bigger than myself,  life and being able to give it or at least make people more aware.

I'm connected by my sister and that was my first real involvement w/an organ procurement organization from her death.  Some, now have life and some now have quality of life,  via sight.   It's a ripple effect, and it's definitely turned a tragedy into something uplifting  and spiritual for me.

This response is amazing and I too am GLAD the BUZZ IS GOOD!!!   GO Three Rivers and GO ALEX,  Big Daddy ROCKS! headbang.gif

Love y'all!

Organ donation is such an important issue. There are so many wonderful things that can be done, not only with organs, but with skin, corneas, parts of the inner ear, bone, just about anything. We can all help each other in this way! This will be a very exciting campaign!

Well.  THIS is just more AWESOME than words can describe...

Since I just spilled my connection to organ donation last week here, I'M DEFINITELY IN!  smile  When the time comes, let us know what kind of help you need.

I have been listed as an organ donor for 19 years now.  In FL, it's an option you can choose on your drivers license (don't know if it's the same for other states) and I don't know if I need to actually be registered or if that automatically happens when I pick that option for my driver's license.

Without getting too emotional (!) and I don't know if I have a right to feel this way or not, but I am SO PROUD of Alex that this was the project he decided was right for him!  What a big HEART this man has!  It's beyond words ...

HUGS to ALL~
Luv,
Cass

I was just wondering if anyone will want my anything. I'm in my early 70's. Is there an age beyond which folks like me are deemed too old to make donor contributions? It is written in my will that this is what I want to happen. My husband is well aware of my wishes.

Hopefully, the additional information that is forthcoming will address my aging issue.

Cass, I share the pride you feel in Alex.  Well said, my friend.

Lynn, thanks for sharing your story.  Kudos to you!  From one Illinoisian to another ... I live in Quincy (west central part of the state, on the Mississippi).

Thanks for the update, Nancy. I saw this over at MLAB. I hope it isn't a serious problem with the woman's children. We'll be checking for news on Monday.
